Access Communications is the sixth largest cable company in Canada and a provincial leader in providing a growing line of products and services including internet, home phone, digital and high-definition television and security, to over 218 communities across Saskatchewan. As a non-profit, community-owned service co-operative, Access Communications employs over 250 people in eight locations in the province, with the head office located in Regina, Saskatchewan. Community is at the heart of Access Communications’ business.
To ensure that Access effectively links with all the communities and stakeholders it serves, the corporation is seeking a Communications Manager. A critical communication priority for you in this position is keeping stakeholders abreast of new products and services being developed and the diverse involvement of Access in the communities it serves. As well, you provide inspiration and support to the internal communications plan and build effective relationships with government and regulators.
Reporting to the President and CEO, your focus is on ensuring that all of Access Communications’ stakeholders have the information they need, when they need it. You understand the importance of strategic communications and have previous experience developing a communications strategy that encompasses all stakeholder audiences, key messages and mediums to reach those audiences. You look forward to being a regular on-air contributor to Access7 and are well-versed in numerous social media sites.
With deep local roots and a genuine desire to see Saskatchewan’s economy flourish, you relish the opportunity to travel across the province and engage with customers in communities from La Ronge to Estevan. You genuinely enjoy meeting with people and community groups and actively participate in various forums across the province.
A strong writer, you are equally comfortable acting as corporate spokesperson. You develop close working relationships with the media and readily respond to media inquiries. You are adept at analyzing issues and preparing timely responses.
Working with various internal colleagues, you are eager to contribute your expertise to other departments to help them effectively get their messages out.
To prepare for this management role, you have completed post-secondary education in a related field and have five to ten years of experience in corporate communications, marketing or public relations. You are ready to assume responsibility and be accountable for all communications planning and activities.
