The City of Yorkton, home to approximately 17,000 residents, is Saskatchewan’s fifth largest city. Due to the significant trading area, the City of Yorkton serves as a hub to approximately 100,000 people. Yorkton has seen unprecedented growth in the past four years and boasts many large city amenities while still providing the quality of life of a smaller community. The municipal operation consists of ten departments including City Clerk, Environmental Services, Gallagher Centre, Finance, Fire Protective Services, Human Resources, Community Development, Parks & Recreation, Planning & Engineering, Public Works and Economic Development. With the city’s current vibrancy and continued future growth solidly in place, the city is looking to attract a strategic thinker as its next Director of Human Resources.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will lead in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of HR strategies, programs, and policies to support achievement of the City’s strategic goals and objectives.
As a key member of the corporate leadership team, you will partner with senior managers to understand their unique business needs and anticipate and fulfill their HR requirements. You will be expected to maintain an environment that encourages individual commitment and growth, fosters teamwork, and recognizes the importance of excellent customer relationships.
ot afraid of rolling up your sleeves to get the job done, you are known as an energetic and dynamic team player with proven leadership and supervisory skills and are well known for your excellent communication skills. Viewed as a big picture thinker, you have a clear understanding of current and future needs and opportunities relating to human resources and have demonstrated the ability to identify, develop and introduce leading-edge human resource practices to address those needs.
As the ideal candidate, you will have a related degree and 5 to 10 years of progressively more responsible, generalist experience in managing HR operations, payroll and benefits, in a growing mid-sized organization. A CHRP designation would be considered an asset.
